We all know that Kwon Alexander is a free agent and I would love for him to stay at the right price, but if he does not remain on the team, I believe we will be fine.
I think people have forgotten about the great play of Kendell Beckwith during his rookie year. He was coming off a knee injury that he sustained in his last year of college, but he healed fast and played great.
During his rookie season , Beckwith recorded 73 tackles, 1 sack, 2 pass defends, 1 forced fumbles, started 11 games and played in 16. Unfortunately, he missed the entire 2018 season due to a non football-related injury.
Those who say that he is injury-prone is very wrong. He had only had one injury so far in his NFL career, and that was a car accident. It could have happened to anyone.
Yes, it was a nasty ankle injury that required surgery, but now he is right on track, getting healthy and preparing for the 2019 season. He is a young guy and has been working his butt off to get back in shape.
So in the event, we lose Kwon Alexander, Kendell Beckwith could step in and take his spot. After all, Beckwith can play any linebacker position, and after watching him in his rookie year flying all over the field making great plays, I became completely sold on him.
Beckwith takes great angles and makes good adjustments on the ball, so I’m not too worried if Alexander does leave.
I do want Alexander to stay, and I hope the Bucs can work something out with him. The possibility of having Lavonte David, Kwon Alexander, and Kendell Beckwith as our linebackers does really sound great. By the way, Tampa should also re-sign linebacker Adarius Taylor, who is a free agent this year as well.
