Bucs Projected Cap Room in 2020

This one is going to be short and sweet. As most Bucs fans are aware by now, Tampa Bay has very little money to play with this offseason when it comes to the salary cap. But just how much cap room will the Bucs have at this time next year? Let’s take a look.

A salary cap chart for all 32 NFL teams done by overthecap.com projects the Bucs to have approximately $68 million and some change. How that is going to happen? I don’t know, but they must anticipate some big changes coming to the Bucs roster soon. They take the cap space (team salary cap, minus active cap spending, minus the dead money) to get their answer. According to overthecap.com, the base salary cap in 2020 is going to be $200 million dollars so the salary cap is projected to up in 2020. The current base salary cap is $188,200,00. The Bucs currently have $190,813,166 in active cap spending, $1,094,515 in dead money and $1,795,449 in their current cap space available. In 2020, overthecap.com projects the Bucs to have $131,835,192 in active cap spending, $0 in dead money, $68,164,808 in cap space and $62,044,808 in effective cap space.

However, spotrac sees things a little differently. They are also less specific. *Disclaimer*: Spotrac.com website says it assumes that the max cap space will be $188,200,000. Spotrac believes that the Bucs will have $131,835,113 in cap spending with $56,364,887 in cap room. Take this one with a grain of salt.

The salary cap is expected to go up in 2020. We’ll see what happens. Either way, the Bucs have to start making better personnel decisions and spending more wisely. The draft is tomorrow! I can’t wait!
