Cool Anime Series: Everything We Know so Far!

The “Manga” or Japanese comic books of the early 20th century are where anime got its start. In Japan, where it is called “anime,” the word is a contraction for “animation”. While anime can be used as a shorthand for “animation” in English, the pronunciation is different from that of Japanese. These Japanese comics had a unique graphical form that was not present in other comic books, even though they told tales of figures and incidents from traditional mythology. When used outside of Japan, the term “manga” refers to Japanese comics or animation.

The term “animation,” which came to be used to describe animation, was coined by Japanese artist Jun’ichi Kouchi in 1917 when he was working on the adaptation of The Story of the Stone, a traditional Chinese folktale. In order to set his work apart from other cartoons that were popular at the time, he uses it as an acronym for animation.

The manga evolved into a new genre known as “gekiga” during World War II, including more mature themes and contemporary issues affecting adults. For girls, “shoujo manga” and “Kaidanshi” became quite popular in the 1950s.

A form of art known as anime, which in Japanese literally translates as “animation,” is a reflection of numerous Asian civilizations. From kid-friendly cartoons like Pokemon to more somber films like Akira, this type of visual storytelling, which originated in Japan, has grown to become one of the most well-liked entertainment genres worldwide. From its modest origins as a cheap form of entertainment in the 1960s, anime has come a long way and is now present on almost every screen imaginable.
