Anya may improve in Spy x Family episode 12. In episode 11, the test results were revealed, and it appears that Anya will be unable to obtain a Stella through academics.

Her athletic abilities aren’t great either, which is why Loid decided to step in and assist her once more. Loid found another opportunity to earn a Stella by volunteering. Loid made Anya volunteer at a local hospital. Anya struggled to be useful, as expected, yet she managed to stand out. She found that she can utilize her skills to serve others rather than scare them.

Anya’s progression provided an opportunity for character development. She still wants to do her best to protect world peace and help Loid, but it appears that her shift in focus will benefit her in the following episodes.

Plot

To keep the peace between the warring nations of Westalis and Ostania,[a] a Westalian agent code-named “Twilight” is charged with spying on Donovan Desmond, leader of the National Unity Party within Ostania. However, because Desmond is notoriously reclusive, the only way Twilight can get near to him is to enroll a child in the same private school as Desmond’s sons and masquerade as a fellow parent.

To accomplish this and project the illusion of a happy family, he adopts a little orphan child named Anya and marries a woman named Yor Briar. Unbeknownst to him, Anya can read minds and Yor is a professional assassin. Neither Loid nor Yor are aware of each other’s genuine identities, nor is Anya aware of their true vocations. The family later adopts Bond, a dog with precognitive talents. Despite these unknown elements and Twilight’s occasional lapses in common sense as a result of years as a spy, he must learn to be the perfect father and spouse in order to complete his job.

Production

Tatsuya Endo and his editor Shohei Lin have known each other for almost ten years; Lin was his first editor on his first serial Tista (2007).

Endo enthusiastically accompanied Lin from the Jump Square editorial department to Shnen Jump+, and they began working on a new project. Spy Family incorporates aspects from three of Endo’s Jump Square one-shots: Rengoku no Ashe, Ishi ni Usubeni, Tetsu ni Hoshi, and I Spy. Lin stated that the reception in the editing department was so positive that serialization was essentially decided before the official meeting even took place.

The first draught was given the working title Spy Family written in Japanese. Endo came up with around 100 alternatives when deciding on the final name, but they ultimately decided to use the same title but in English and with a “cross” in between, the latter influenced by Hunter Hunter. [4] Lin stated that he and Endo are always cognizant of the line where violence, a vital part of a spy manga, is given a pass for the sake of comedy. With Tista and Gekka Bijin both having a somber tone, the editor encouraged Endo to make Spy Family more joyful. Anya was inspired by the main character of Rengoku no Ashe. Her extrasensory perception was decided early on, and Lin acknowledged her utilization of humorous effect as one of the series’ highlights. Lin stated that the series has a diverse readership of all ages and genders. He also noted Endo’s clean art and ability to portray emotions as factors in the manga’s attractiveness.

Lin believes that the universe and characters were well established by volume two. As a result, he indicated that he and Endo would begin to add larger plots in the series.
