Rifugi Mushoku Tensei (also known as Jobless Reincarnation) is a series of Japanese novels written by Rifuji Mushoku. It falls into the fantasy, harem, and isekai categories. Shosetsuka Ni Naro Publications released it on November 22, 2012. On April 3, 2015, the novel was finished in 25 volumes. The adaptation of the novel into an anime series took far too long. Media Factory Publications dropped the first volume of Mushoku Tensei’s light novel adaptation. The light novel series comprises 25 volumes, just like the novel series.

On May 2, 2014, Yuka Fujikawa released a manga adaptation of the series, consisting of 15 tankobon volumes. Mushouku Tensei: Roxy Gets Serious was released subsequently by Kadokawa Shoten. The art was made by Shoko Ichami.

The manga’s final three volumes were also released, featuring drawings by Nogiwa Kasese. The manga was published on October 25, 2018, by ASCII Media Works. Until the finale was revealed, these versions were very successful. The first episode of the anime adaptation of Jobless Reincarnation was released on January 11, 2021. “Mushoku Tenei,” the opening episode, continues the series’ plot. After a terrible life, a jobless guy dies. Surprisingly, he is revived in fantasy as Rudeus Greyrat, and his memories are preserved. He made the decision to enjoy his new life and not look back. Rudeus Greyrat’s mission will be further upon in Mushoku Tensei Season 3.

Rifugio na Magonote stated that he designed Rudeus with an awareness of his divisive attitude. In the process, he hoped Rudeus’ deeds would be more meaningful. He had no qualms in criticizing Rudeus early on and let the public evaluate him. Magnet wants the audience to focus on a certain aspect of his persona and relate to him. He had previously stated that I felt a strong reaction in episodes 6–7 of the web adaptation of the novels, but it was only when Roxy took Rudeus out. Rudeus is able to recover from his tragedy thanks to her. Such a story left a positive impression on his readers, prompting him to think, “Let’s continue in this way.”

Rifugio stated after the first sections of his work were published that the series will include at least a hundred chapters.

Rifugio pondered quitting the series early due to negative feedback but was encouraged to continue after his work rose to the top of Syosetu’s daily rankings.  The plot arc in which Rudeus reunites with Aisha was planned to be radically different from what was presented. Lilia was supposed to die off-screen, and Aisha was supposed to be hiding under a different alias.
