Riley Gale, the vocalist, and frontman for Dallas-area thrash metal band Power Trip, AllMusic states that Power Trip is a Dallas, Texas band that was formed in 2008 and has since released two full-length albums, two extended plays, and the greatest hits CD. Armageddon Blues, their debut EP, was released in 2009 and was followed by Power Trip in 2011. In 2013, the band signed with Southern Lord Records and released Manifest Decimation the same year. After that, in 2017, they released their second studio album, titled Nightmare Logic.
A fan asked Power Trip on Twitter on August 11 if a new album was in the works, and the band responded, “it’s on the way, entering the studio ASAP.”
According to their AllMusic bio, the band is a “crossover thrash metal band” whose music combines “hardcore punk, speed, and death metal.” Revolver said that Gale was known for his high-intensity and aggressive presence during live gigs as well as his “politically charged lyrics and boldly outspoken statements to the press and on social media.”

Origin of Death
Power Trip’s vocalist, the late Riley Gale of Texas, passed away at age 34 in 2018. We don’t know what killed him, but we didn’t know it at the time. Ice-T, who worked with Gale on the Power Trip, speculated that Gale died of an opioid overdose in an interview with Stereogum last December.
MetalSucks notes that it has since been confirmed that Gale died from a fentanyl overdose at the hands of the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office. The autopsy report concluded that Gale died from pulmonary edema, which results from excess fluid in the lungs. “The poisonous effects of fentanyl” led to the illness. At the time of his death, the amount of fentanyl in his blood was 22.5ng/mL (nanograms per milliliter), which is more than the minimum effective dose for either analgesia or general anesthesia. The autopsy report cited Gale’s “history of Xanax abuse” and “history of depression” and pronounced his death an accident.
