Jamie Spears, Britney Spears' Father, Is Ordered To Sit For Deposition, Spears' Lawyer Addresses Her

It was a tense day in court on Wednesday as lawyers for Britney Spears and her father Jamie Spears traded charges over whether their clients would have to give depositions in the post-conservatorship period, with the singer coming out on top in the end.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny, the same judge who dissolved Britney Spears’ conservatorship on November 12th, 2021, said Jamie Spears must sit for a deposition by his daughter’s counsel by August 12th, but the judge tentatively ruled against allowing the celebrity to be deposed.

A hearing on July 27 will allow her to make a final decision, and she requested additional information ahead of that date.

Jamie Spears was also denied access to documents from his daughter by the judge, who determined that the information he wanted was irrelevant to the case.

When it comes to Britney Spears, Jamie Spears’ lawyer, Alex Weingarten, announced that he will ask a state appellate court panel to look into the judge’s decision not to require her to submit papers and the tentative denial of her deposition. As far as he was concerned, they are “out of step” with the laws of this state.

Britney Spears’ deposition will be relatively brief if she testifies that she has no relevant records, Weingarten said. “It is a fundamental right,” he added.

It is the lawyer representing Britney Spears who claims Jamie Spears is trying to “retraumatize” his daughter by making her sit for a deposition in front of their father, Mathew Rosengart.

‘Mr. Spears is not the victim here,’ Rosengart insisted. The fight was instigated by him, but my client wants to put this behind him.

While serving as a co-conservator of the pop star’s estate, Rosengart claims that Jamie Spears has avoided his attempts to depose him for the past nine months. It was in February 2008 that the conservatorship was put in place after the performer’s odd behavior.
