The couple wed at the New York City Public Library on Saturday, turning the historic location into a “old-school NYC, black and white, Gatsby-inspired ball.” The couple became engaged in January 2021.

In front of their loved ones and closest friends, NBA player Kevin Love and model Kate Bock exchanged vows in a lavish ceremony on Saturday, June 25th, at the New York City Public Library. “The city is such an integral part of our journey and it felt so appropriate to bring all of our favourite people together inside such a legendary New York City institution,” said the model, businesswoman, and founder of Love. Kate, 34, reveals exclusively to PEOPLE.

“Given our shared love of literature, art, and history as well as our high levels of curiosity, the New York Public Library is the perfect place for Kevin and me to indulge our passions. It brings back the vintage New York glitz we were looking for and is so recognisable as our beloved city. The fact that it is so close to the St. Regis Hotel, where we had our first date, is another thing we appreciate.”

According to Bock, the couple transformed the iconic New York City location into a “Great Gatsby-inspired party” with the aid of their wedding planner Marcy Blum, and they requested that everyone wear black and white.

We felt it was stylish, classic, and exquisite, she tells PEOPLE. The bride dazzled in a custom-made, “traditional and exquisite” Ralph Lauren gown accessorised with matching jewellery, shoes, and a cathedral-length veil. Hairstylist Adam Maclay and cosmetics artist Lisa Aharon made up Bock’s glam squad.

According to Bock, “My dress was inspired by Grace Kelly’s wedding dress.” “She was a real idol, and I believe she will always be inspirational. All I could think when I first saw the dress in person was, “This is a work of art.” It’s really unique, quite regal, and very stunning.”

This theme was intended to evoke old-school New York City grandeur. They were able to create a dress that was truly one of a kind since they had a fantastic understanding of my idea for it and applied the signature Ralph Lauren style to it.” The groom also wore a specially made Ralph Lauren outfit.

Kevin has outstanding fashion sense and knows how to look beautiful in a tuxedo, according to Bock. “Choosing the fabrics and colours for his outfits as well as the many details from the sources we had gathered was a lot of fun. The day seemed much more genuine after watching him perform his fitting!

On their wedding day, the couple broke with tradition by travelling to the location together. According to Bock, “Kevin and I didn’t feel that keeping things separate was vital.” Together, we prepared for the wedding, travelled to the library, and planned the wedding.

After their wedding ceremony and reception, guests made their way to the Bryant Park Hotel’s Célon Lounge for the after-party. Love, a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl revealed their engagement on Instagram in January 2021 along with sentimental black-and-white images from Love’s proposal.
