Taylor Swift’s New Collaboration with Ice Spice Sounds Like Matty Healy’s “Damage Control.”
Congratulations to all the upset Swifties who were freaking out about their favorite singer’s love life: it looks like Taylor Swift is finally addressing the backlash over her reported relationship with controversial singer Matty Healy.
Well, maybe.
The Grammy-winning singer announced her latest and possibly craziest partnership on Wednesday: a remix of her hit Midnight’s song “Karma” with femcee of the moment Ice Spice.
“Um. “SOO MUCH to tell you,” Swift tweeted this afternoon. “I’m a huge fan of this amazing artist, and now that I know her, I can say with certainty that she is THE ONE to watch. So happy to say that Karma, featuring the amazing @icespicee_, will be out TOMORROW night at midnight ET as part of the new Midnights (Til Dawn Edition) special album, which you can pre-order now.”
Um. SO much to tell you. I’m a massive fan of this brilliant artist and after getting to know her I can confirm: she is THE ONE to watch. Swift also said that the expanded version of Midnights will have a re-recorded version of “Snow on the Beach,” which features Lana Del Rey, and a new song called “You’re Losing Me,” which may be inspired by Joe Alwyn.
Ice Spice is, of course, the one that is getting the most attention on Twitter. First of all, it’s funny that Swift, who is very white, is working with a drill rapper from the Bronx. The cover art or a still from a music video that shows the two of them standing together and shooting light beams from their hands makes the whole thing even more ridiculous.
The elephant in the room, though, is Swift’s new rumored boyfriend Healy, who has been in trouble in recent weeks for his bad behavior, like when he laughed at a racist comment made about Ice Spice on a show.
In February, Healy was on an episode of the “dirtbag left” show The Adam Friedland Show. This episode is no longer available to watch online. Friedland and the show’s other host, Nick Mullen, go off on a racist rant in the episode after Healy says that he sent Ice Spice a DM. Friedland and Mullen then call the rapper an “Intuit Spice Girl” and a “chubby Chinese lady.” They then try to imitate Chinese and Hawaiian accents while Healy laughs along.

The British rocker has since apologized for the upsetting episode, calling his and the hosts’ comments “embarrassing.” Unfortunately, it’s not the only time he’s done something bad. In January, he saluted Hitler at a show, which is also on his record.
Many of Swift’s fans are upset that she is working with the controversial singer. Some of them have even started an online movement called #SpeakUpNow to stop the re-release of her third album, Speak Now.

Twitter users are already calling the “Karma” remix one of Swift’s classic PR moves since she brought Ice Spice on as a collaborator and maybe even as a member of her famous “girl squad.” If the song is meant to make up for what Healy did with the rapper, it seems like a strange way to do it, since the internet is now even more upset about it.
No matter what Swift wants, the “Karma” remix is likely to be a hit, just like most of her songs. Even so, that might not be enough to get people to forget about Healy on the internet.
