That these actors and shows didn’t come out on top is mind-boggling, to say the least! People all over the world were disappointed when the nominations for the 2022 Emmy Awards were released.
Newcomers Abbott Elementary and Yellowjackets overtook established shows like Black-ish and Stranger Things in the ratings. While we’re happy for notable winners like Zendaya, Quinta Brunson, and Bowen Yang, we still feel horrible for those who didn’t make the cut this year. Snubs in 2022? Here are our top choices.
Selena Gomez was the only member of the cast of Steve Martin and Martin Short’s hilarious crime caper, Murders In The Building, to be overlooked for a nomination as the lead actress in a comedy. However, she was nominated as the show’s executive producer, a first for her career.
In the 74-year history of the Emmy Awards, Salma Hayek was the first Latina to be nominated for a Comedy Series Emmy for her work on the show.
Although Millie Bobby Brown, the star of Stranger Things, was snubbed in the acting category, there’s still hope for her in Hawkins. During this year’s Emmy nominations, just the first volume of Netflix’s sci-fi hit was eligible.
If the Emmys take into account the just released Stranger Things 4, Vol. 2 next year, she might still win the gold. Next year, will she be nominated for her efforts in the episodes “Papa” and “Piggyback”?
Another notable Stranger Things omission was Sadie Sink. Maxim Mayfield has been a mainstay of the programme since her debut in season 2, and she had a pivotal role in several memorable (and well-sung) scenes in season 4. Sadie, on the other hand, has a chance next year, just like MBB. Girl, keep going up that hill.
Fans had hoped that Tracee Ellis Ross would win an Emmy for her portrayal of Rainbow Johnson in Black-final ish’s season, but it wasn’t to be. It’s been five years since Tracee has been nominated for a comedy lead actress award, but this year she won’t even get the chance. Shame.
Moore, Mandy For the Pearson family, this was a bittersweet farewell at the Emmys. Mandy Moore’s performance as Rebecca throughout the last season was remarkable, but it wasn’t enough to earn her a dramatic acting nod. In 2019, she received her only nomination for This Is Us.
Shortly after the news broke, Mandy took to Instagram to express her disappointment. Sid Kosla and Taylor Goldsmith were congratulated first before she admitted her disappointment in the music nominations.
