A Voice in the Dark

The Fireflies’ Grave

With no parents to care for him, he must survive the war while simultaneously becoming a parent figure to his 4-year-old sister. The novel Grave Of The Fireflies is based on the author’s firsthand experience during the 1945 firebombing of Kobe. It was written as a heartfelt apology to Keiko, his younger sister whom he had failed to save from famine.
